Just watch. It’s worth the eight minute commitment.

For anybody that missed Justin Bieber’s Today Show performances earlier this morning…here are the clips, as well as the interview with Matt Lauer. Apparently people 13-year old girls were camping out since Tuesday just to be able to catch a glimpse of their teen idol. Unfortunately, I was not one of them. CAN’T WAIT FOR JUNE 19TH.

Here’s a funny clip from a few days ago from Jimmy Kimmel Live showing Roy Hibbert and Jeremy Lin doing a Skype scavenger hunt. Pretty good stuff. @JLin7 didn’t really look like he was trying though…Roy on the other hand was on point. Even if he cheated on the first one lol.
In the latest, inaugural edition of the Harp Break Kid, watch Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper blast a HR off the Blackberry Bold sign in Toronto. Holy shit.
I don’t know about you guys but I am pretty pumped to watch the new Dream Team documentary that will be airing tomorrow at 9pm on NBA TV. It really was such a historic time for basketball fans around the world and a part of me wishes I was a little bit older at the time so I could remember it more. (The other part of me wishes I wasn’t even born at the time so I wouldn’t have to languish through the everyday terrible responsibilities of being an adult. But that’s neither here nor there.) Just watching clips and reading articles like the Oral History of the Dream Team just released by GQ gives me the chills. Not sure if that’s just extremely nerdy for me to say or if it really was just a momentous occasion. I’m gonna go with the latter. Anyway, check out that GQ article and make sure you tune into NBA TV tomorrow for the documentary.
Where Art Thou?
My favorite re-occuring Grantland piece has always been Reader’s Revenge, which started off as an addendum to “About Last Weekend”, (a feature that used to exist in WritingthePine 1.0 before the “Great Server Crash of 2012.”)
Similar to Deadspin’s “DHF” or Drunken Hookup Failure, but with a wider range of topics, readers participated by contributing great, embarrassing stories that may or may not have been embellished, exaggerated, or just plain fabricated.
However, since the last piece on 5/21/2012, there hasn’t been a new submission. The next topic was supposed to be “The Strangest Place You’ve Ever Woken Up (and the story of how you got there)”
After a twitter question directed at Grantland, and no response, I’m just going to assume that the feature has been discontinued, but probably under some controversy. (I’m looking at you, Shane Ryan).
I have no basis for my theories, but I’ll put it out there nonetheless:
Welcome back, Reader’s Revenge. Welcome back.
Well it seems as though I got lucky in my first round of picks, going 2-1 with my bets last time. I’m back today with three more games and I promise to be wrong on most of them. Here are my picks for the day:
PICKS IN BOLD
1. Miami Heat (-2) @ Boston Celtics
2. Tampa Bay Rays – Price @ New York Yankees – Sabathia (Over/Under 8.0)
3. Toronto Blue Jays – Alvarez @ Chicago White Sox – Peavy (-139)
The new NCAA Football 13 demo was released for the XBOX360 today. After what felt like a long wait (1.98GB), the game was finally ready to be played.
Here are some thoughts in bullet point style. (“The Major likes bullet points…”)
What is bullet time? First of all, it’s called “Reaction Time”. Probably because bullets aren’t involved and they’d probably get sued by the makers of Max Payne. Essentially, you go into a Neo (Matrix) or Wesley (Wanted) mode where the whole world slows down. Some superstar QBs claim that games does indeed slow down during crunch time and when they’re under pressure. I can’t related from personal experience. I go into “WTF WHY IS THE DT BULLRUSHING INTO MY FACE!” panic mode. Read more
I was with a friend the other day who, in the midst of making fun of me and questioning my manhood, mentioned that she would just always do the exact opposite of whatever I said. Naturally, this got me thinking about every sports bet I’ve ever made in my life and how I should’ve just made the exact opposite bet of whatever I did because then I’d be rich. But this doesn’t mean you guys can’t be rich! As a favor to all of you, I’ll be making picks for as many games as I can, and given my track record, as long as you guys just pick the opposite of me, you guys will win. And I’m not even talking about just 55% of the time. Really, given my luck, it’ll probably be like 75% of the time. I’m just theorizing of course, but I’m gonna put it to the test and see how well poorly I do. I’ll keep track of my record and maybe down the line if this pans out, I’ll put in how much I’d wager and how confident I am in the picks as well. So without further ado, here’s my picks for tonight. I’ll take it slow in the beginning and start with only three games. Remember, pick the opposite!
PICKS IN BOLD
1. Boston Celtics @ Miami Heat (-7.5)
2. Tampa Bay Rays – Shields @ New York Yankees - Pettitte (-125)
3. LA Dodgers – Billingsley @ Philadelphia Phillies – Lee (-180)
