Bitter Mets Fans

Our Jason Bay e-mail thread from yesterday got a little testy when Dave (a Mets fan) brought up Joe Mauer going to the Yankees.  What happened?  Well we just find out that Met fans are just plain bitter.  See for yourselves (and as usual, there is some strong language).

Dave: yes i think mauer is going to leave minnesota. i liken his situation to lebron’s situation. joe mauer is an absolute stud (hopefully he stays health) if mlb had a salary cap everybody would be clearing space to make room to sign mauer. but unlike the knicks with lebron the yankees by far give mauer the best shot at winning multiple world series and with the future core of the yanks looking to be cc, teix, arod, and granderson, i think mauer completes that quintuplet. i believe mauer will be the next “true” yankee and will be the next captain of the new york yankees after jeter retires.

Eden: that just gave me goosebumps.

Young: concur

Illinois Dave: Damn that’s so sad that a met fan just wrote that. How we aren’t even in the DISCUSSION when we don’t even have a servicable catcher. We have omir fucking santos. I’d take cervelli over him. How much u wanna bet we are gonna end up giving benji a 4 year deal

Young: HAHHAH DAVE. Immy, please post that exchange. lol

Illinois Dave: Yo fuck u

Eden: hahahahaha!!!

Dave: hahaha.

well. my thinking is we’re only offering molina a 1 year deal so we can get in on the mauer sweepstakes next year but #1 if the yanks and mets got in a bidding war the yanks would win #2 if you could pick between the mets and the yankees why the fuck would you pick the mets. would you rather ride a float down the canyon of heroes with jay z or get made fun of on conan obrien along with mr. met. and what have the mets done in the past 10 years to show we should be taken seriously. we made it to the world series in 2000 but it was pretty clear the yankees would destroy us. we only lose in spectacular fashion. i’m beginning to think we should just run our franchise like the twins, a’s, marlins, etc. and maybe resign a young star player to a lucrative contract when he becomes a free agent.
