UNC/Valparaiso Game Thoughts

David Im, NCAA BBall

Unfortunately this game was not on television nor was it available online so I could not watch it so I’ll limit my thoughts on this one.  After all, I am relying only on the box score.

  • We should’ve won by more than 11.
  • Valpo shooting 44.4% from long distance is unacceptable.  These types of opponents’ shooting performances have plagued the Tar Heels in recent years.  We always let one guy torch us.  In this game it was Brandon Wood (and to a lesser degree Brandon McPherson).
  • We’re continuing to dominate the glass like we should be.
  • Good news: Drew and Ginyard combined for 12 assists.  Bad news: Drew and Ginyard combined for nine turnovers.
  • Zeller had another productive game: 12 points, five boards, two blocks in 15 minutes.  Unfortunately he had four fouls also.
  • I would like to see more scoring from the freshmen.  They are McDonald’s All-Americans after all.
  • It’s early in the season and we’re a young team.  We won’t dominate every game and we certainly won’t win them all.  As long as we can learn from this game, I’ll be happy.
  • Big week coming up for the Heels.  I’ll be there watching them in person from MSG.
  • Oh yeah, WE GOT HARRISON BARNES.
