Writing the Pine

For comparing Manu Ginobili’s swatting of a bat to Michael Vick electrocuting, hanging, drowning, and shooting dogs.  Sure, PETA didn’t bring up Vick’s name, but they did link to all their posts tagged “Michael Vick” when discussing what Manu did.  Here’s exactly what they said:

To bludgeon a 4-ounce animal to death, it takes either a small man or a totally unthinking one—with no respect or consideration for lives humbler than his own. This is a time when athletes in particular need to be on their best behavior around any animal and show that they have brains and a heart, not just reactionary brawn.

I don’t even know what PETA actually does besides piss people off.  A simple statement reprimanding Manu for what he did would’ve been fine.  We all understand that’s what the organization does and we live with it.  Instead they chose to compare Manu’s actions with Vick’s, who spent 19 months in prison for what he did just because they’re both athletes and that’s just some horseshit.  Besides, who knows what kind of crazy diseases that bat was carrying?

So HOW DARE YOU PETA for once again finding a way to piss people off.
